Teachers getting tattoos

Jasmine Moreno, Social Media Director

Tattoos have become a form of way for people to express themselves. However, tattoos have always been looked down upon as a sort of a gruesome thing to have. As generations passed by more and more people have began to get tattoos. Now, if you didn’t know this teacher’s have tattoos. I know right big shocker. The only problem when getting a tattoo is the loss of job opportunities.

Some work requirements involve not having some sort of “crazy” hair, piercings, or noticeable tattoos. I can understand how tattoos, or any of those things, look unprofessional but I still believe people should be able to have tattoos. Sure, if you have a tattoo you have to cover it up but that isn’t the purpose of getting the tattoo.

Not only are the tattoos meant to be seen but they have a meaning as well. I personally want to get a tattoo that will express who I am. All the teachers around us with tattoos put a lot of thought into why they were getting the tattoo. “It was a symbol to release myself from all that heartache and stress. It was sort of like starting anew,” said Jennifer Dryden, The Oracles supervisor.

It depends on the person but tattoos can be more that just another decoration on your body. Dryden put a lot of thought into it before actually getting the tattoo. “I drew it for years and still liked it after 3 years of drawing it.” Which I would say is a good idea.

These tattoos are permanently on your body unless you pay money to remove something you spent money to get.

In total, tattoos are becoming more and more common as time goes by. So it shouldn’t matter if a teacher or anyone for that matter has a tattoo.
