Congrats, Class of 2022!

DM North Media, Staff

On Sunday, May 29 at 1 p.m., family and friends of graduating North seniors gathered at Drake University’s Knapp Center to cheer on their student as they walked across the stage to graduate. The class of 2022 had 225 graduates. This is the first year that seniors were allowed to decorate their caps and many featured cultures, quotes, flowers and feathers.

Training Tarlue, senior class president, gave a welcoming speech, highlighting his thanks for his family’s support and his love for his classmates. Tarlue’s family were just to the left of the stage and wore green matching t-shirts with Tarlue’s face on it and cheered loudly and proudly.

The next speaker was valedictorian Saata Corneh who spoke about her journey through speech and debate and the various lessons she learned by making small missteps and improving for next time. She used that experience to give the graduating class advice to keep going even when it’s hard.

Following a few words from Principal Ben Graeber, graduates began lining up to walk the stage with their names announced throughout the venue.

Congrats to the class of 2022!
