TREES

Laura Abuhl

When people think of trees… Well, no they don’t. Why would someone think of a tree? Trees do a lot for us, but most people don’t think of that.
First, they’re pretty. They get a rainbow of colors in their leaves during fall. They get all icy and snowy during the winter. And, they keep us shady in the dead of summer.
Second, they are used for so many things. The paper you use to write down notes in class? Thank a tree. The pencil? Same place. They’re used for a lot of our everyday life, but people don’t think of it.
Third, THEY’RE THE REASON WE’RE ALIVE. They take in carbon dioxide, and put out oxygen. You know, that stuff we use to breathe. Without trees, the seven billion people that currently live on the planet, would probably not all be here.
As humans, we undermind lots of things. We only think about things that are important to us, or that affect us directly. And it works for us. Trees don’t care whether or not we thank them, they don’t have feelings. But they do deserve a lot of credit.
