Presenting the Class of 2018: Graduation

Oracle Staff

On Sunday, May 27, approximately 275 students graduated from North High School at Drake University’s Knapp Center. Valedictorian, top in the class of 2018, was Rosemary Galdamez, and salutatorian, ranked second in the class, was Emily McGruder.

Senior class president, Jasmine Inthabounh welcomed and led the Pledge of Allegiance for the ceremony. Special commencement remarks were led by vice principal Dr. Cheryl Modlin, and principal Benjamin Graeber. This was Graeber’s first graduating class as principal.

Modlin’s speech consisted of going over all the past four year entailed in pop culture, society, and at North High School. An applause of remembrance erupted at the mention of former North student Kendall Foster, a student of the class of 2018 who passed away in their sophomore year. Other events mentioned were former president of the United States Barack Obama’s visit and the Polar Bear Gala’s increasing end totals for three years. Students remembered being a part of North’s School for Rigor and winning the Metro Championship for boys basketball in 2017.

As each student crossed the stage as their name was called, parents, friends, relatives and guardians erupted in cheers for their graduate.

The Oracle, and other parts of DM North Media wish success for all graduates of the class of 2018.
