A couple hundred people gathered to remember and mourn the loss of late North sophomore Kendall Foster Thursday evening at a candlelight vigil on the front lawn of North High School. The camraderie was shown by students, staff, family and friends of the Fosters and community members.

Pastor Andre Brooks of Kingdom Life Family Ministries Int. offered his support and delivered speeches of loss, healing and hope. Another point made throughout the vigil was to not seek revenge, but instead to work together to end hate and violence in the streets of the Des Moines community.

Kendall was a member of the 10th grade basketball team. A GoFundMe page was created by boys basketball coach Chad Ryan Thursday late morning to help pay for memorial services, and just a few hours later the goal of $5,000 was met and exceeded.

The Oracle staff sends its condolences to the Foster family, Kendall’s friends and the North High community.
