Gender Inequality

Gender Inequality

Have you ever opened a magazine and seen women posing half nude for a male’s product. Objectifying women to make them look like sex objects?

Men are taking a stand saying that magazines and billboards need to stop objectifying women through the HE FOR SHE movement. Emma Watson stands up to lead this campaign.

Emma Watson, loved by all, stands up and says this is not okay. Watson did a speech in the UK explaining, “In my nervousness for this speech and my moments of doubt, I’ve told myself firmly, ‘If not me, who? If not now, when?’”

Celebrities like Harry Styles are joining the campaign to show that he too, is tired of women getting treated differently than men.

Actor Tom Hiddleston posts on Twitter, “@EmmaWatson you are impeccable & extraordinary. I stand with you. I believe in gender equality #heforshe.” Most people know Tom Hiddleston as Loki from the movie Thor. Hiddleston doing this catches the eyes of more people because he is a well-known and adored actor.

There are more than 180 thousand men around the world standing up for this according to the HE FOR SHE website showing all the men that have joined. The country with the most men standing up for gender equality is North America with an outstanding 53,000 men.

Junior Aeris Heckmen expresses her feelings over the subject of feminism explaining, “Feminism for me it means it’s like men telling us that ‘her clothes provoked it.’ It doesn’t matter how the girl dresses we are viewed at objects and I think we shouldn’t be viewed as objects. I don’t know if this is feminism but I think we shouldn’t be viewed as objects. We are people too.”

Thousands of feminists feel this way about rape victims and how women are being used for profanity and objects because women have addressed this before but now, it’s not the women that are standing up. It’s the men, so this is being heard.

Emma Watson again speaks out of this feminist strike down on gender inequality stating, “I keep telling myself that I’m a human being who’s not made to look like a doll, and that who I am as a person is more important than whether at that moment I have a nice figure.” These are such strong words to many of her followers.

If this HE FOR SHE movement passes, women will be paid the same and treated the same as males in the work force.  HE FOR SHE  is fighting for your rights; maybe you should fight with it.
