The homecoming game may have been earlier than usual this year, but the festivities were perfect timing for crowning more than just king and queen.

Nathaniel Cobb and Tytiaunna Johnson were voted North’s 2015 senior homecoming king and queen, which was celebrated with cheers and screams.

Another crown the North student body voted on this past week was student body president and vice president. After votes were tallied, Senior Russhuan Johnson was crowned president and Senior Mikey Neal was announced as vice president. The group of four candidates that included Jolena Le and Ryan Thammathay huddled together during the announcement in support of one another.

After the senior students were crowned accordingly, it was spirit stick time. During the 2014-2015 school year, the junior class, now the senior class, won the majority of the competitions of the loudest class. This year, the freshmen gave a good first try, but fell short to the other classes. After the second round of victory cheers, the seniors were determined the winner, carrying the tradition of winning the spirit stick to their senior year.

The staff showed spirit by holding a surprise dance off with students to the popular song “Watch Me” by Silento. Mr. Matt Lakis, English I teacher, made it rain with fake money.

The pep assembly ended with Principal Vukovich’s remarks about the tailgate and football game, which ended in a loss for North against Hoover. Vukovich mentioned the President of the United States’ visit on Monday and that it was a great opportunity for North High.
