Tech Today

Kolby Chup, reporter

Have you ever noticed how much we use our electronics? When’s the last time you went a day without your TV or your phone? If you’re like me, you probably can’t think of a day you went without technology. Adults constantly tell teens to do something other than technology. Now that we’ve become so attached to our cell phones there’s really nothing to do without them.

Not only is it teens that have become dependent on technology, adults have too. Everything can be done wirelessly or through a smart phone or tablet. Our world revolves around technology. News spreads like a wild fire in the forest that is social media. Almost every student I go to school with has a smartphone with Twitter as one of their most used apps. You don’t even need to tweet to learn about what happens around the world. Simply read the tweets. Facebook is similar. News is constantly posted and updated. You can friend or like a news page that will update you on news around the world. Sports fans like myself can find pages that will keep you in the game for every play.

Besides social media, we all have hobbies and a lot of them include electronics. Movies, music, and especially online shopping. Amazon, Zappos, and all the online stores people love could never be accessed without internet and your technology. Even subjects outside of technology use technology. Sports for example. In the sports world, technology is constantly being used to stream the games. The timing has become so precise thanks to our modern day technology.

I In my opinion, we have became too dependent on technology and electronics No one does anything without technology nowadays. Soon there will be absolutely nothing to do without using technology. Even now there is close to nothing we can do without our electronics. Kids in the newer generation will never know what it’s like to live or have fun without it. Soon no one will ever think to look in a book to find information, they could simply Google it to get millions of different answers. Sophomore Dorothea Polk said“It’s a distraction, and takes away from having a real conversation.” When she was asked if people have become too dependent on electronics. I think people should lay off or take a break from electronics every once in a while. I just think my generation needs to learn to live without technology.
