Homecoming King and Queen: Sam Williams and Taylor McDaniel

As we know, North High isn’t really known for having school spirit or the most “turnt up” dances, but maybe.. just maybe this years will change people’s minds.

Freshmen, Breonna Lam, our freshmen Homecoming Princess rated homecoming a 7 out of 10. “My first homecoming dance, it wasn’t really what I expected. I didn’t think that many people would show up.” Which is true, and pretty much mindblowing because this years homecoming attendants doubled last years attendants. We sold about 124 tickets last year, and 314 this year.

Micheal Colon – Ramos, Junior would also agree that he enjoyed homecoming. “Last year was awful, it was boring. I loved it this year …well other than outdoors with no AC, I liked it” Ramos added. Most students would have agreed. The new idea of indoors and outdoors really concerned the students and very few thought it was a cool idea. Personally, I was concerned also. It was something new, it was something different, but at the same time we didn’t wanna be typical this year.

“I like the location, it was something new, it was some thing other schools wouldn’t do. I liked the theme, also. It was literally, a night under the stars!” added Junior Reagan Clay. On the other hand, Daishon Willis said “I didn’t like the location. It was hard to find and it should’ve been bigger, I wasn’t even paying attention the theme and some of the music sucked.”

Sam Williams, our Homecoming King would have to disagree “My favorite thing was the music, it was “crackin”, I rated this years 9 bro.” For his very last homecoming, Sam said he did not expect to win homecoming king. “I got a lot of love for that” The last four years that he’s been at North High, he said “It’s been the best year yet. I’m definitely feeling it.”

As a student and a student council member, I rated homecoming an 8. There have been many things we could’ve done better. I feel like this year many people got out of their shells. The energy from the students and staff throughout spirit week, the energy at the game, and the energy at the dance was amazing! I feel as if many things have improved this year. I am looking forward to the rest of the year, and the rest of my time at North High. I am proud to be a Polar Bear!
