President Obama to visit North Monday

President Barack Obama will speak at North High School on Monday, September 14 along with Arne Duncan, secretary of the Department of Education, during their Back-to-School tour. Their focus will be with junior and senior students and their families about college.
Senior Russhaun Johnson will introduce President Obama during this event. Johnson has been an avid member of Movement 515 and Student Senate. He was crowned the 2015-2016 student body president Friday, Sept 11 at the homecoming pep assembly.
North’s principal, Mr. Michael Vukovich, has been meeting with secret service in preparation to make Monday a success. All junior and senior students had the opportunity to get a free ticket for themselves and one ticket for a parent or guardian. Those tickets were to be picked up Friday, Sept. 11 during the homecoming tailgate.
No activities or practices will be held on Sunday, Sept. 13 or Monday, Sept. 14. Non North High people are not allowed on campus Sunday or Monday per request as well. Certain hallways and stairways will be secured starting at 11 a.m. Monday.
All busing and drop-offs are on the north side of the building Monday. Students and staff need to use the north entrances. The event doors open at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are required for entry through the south side regular entrance. All bags will be searched and attendees should expect airport-like security checks.
A live stream will be at whitehouse.gov/live starting around 3:30 – 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14. The Oracle will report through stories, photo and video following the event.
