Day 2 – Oracle in Denver
Pre-conventions, media tours and 16th Street Mall, oh my!
April 16, 2015
Sammi’s day in Denver:
So we are now on day two of five, and I can honestly say that I’ve never felt so at home but so far from home at the same time. The people here are just like those in Des Moines – meaning that they do what they please within reason, and are incredibly nice.
Due to Mother Nature’s rain on our parade, I was unable to go to the Mile High Bronco stadium. However, I did get to go to the Bronco’s training facility. Mom, you’re welcome for the pictures and gifts I got. Sorry, I was unable to cut a lock of John Elway’s hair for you.
While in a mock press conference with 29 other people, I got to learn about a pretty interesting guy: David Bruton. David Bruton is a safety for the Denver Broncos and has been a part of the team for at least five years. Although he has a good career ahead of him, Bruton plans to make a difference in every child’s life. He says he wants “every kid to become a nerd.”
Afterwards, once everyone got back to the hotel, we all got dressed for lupper (lunch supper) and enjoyed a cute little local BBQ place called Boney’s BBQ. After we smashed on our pulled pork, french fries and mac’n’cheese, we took a stroll along the 16th Street Mall. After spending about $100 on souvenirs, we went back to the hotel and got ready for a late night welcoming seminar.
The day started at a local corner bakery, and ended with all five of us relaxing after a long day of seminars, shopping and eating. Please excuse me while I enjoy my food coma.
