A Young Man’s Dream Comes True
February 14, 2014
“Coach Hanks,
I wanted to send you a quick note to celebrate the actions of your athlete , Trey Warrick. During the North vs. Johnston game I saw something that I wish I would have caught on tape.”
Trey Warrick, junior at North High School received a letter from Mr Kurt Sinnett two weeks after the north vs. Johnston varsity football game stating how Trey handled himself out on the field was extraordinary.”
Johnston has a special needs student who loves football. He comes to practice everyday, cheers on every play without getting the reward of getting to play the game for safety purposes.”
Trey helped a special need kid David Lile line up, to the line of scrimmage and he allowed him to block Trey and go through the whistle. That may not seem like much but to a kid who might get to be in two plays at the most, that is everything. David Lile is number 29 on his team and supports everything they do with only getting to play a few times per-season.
“Nearly every Johnston fan saw how Trey handled himself. As a former major college athlete and coach, I wish this is what we all could see every night on sports center.”
Later Trey was asked how he felt about getting this letter as a smile reached his face he explained how it made him feel like he was a better person.
“I felt good, because it shows that people pay attention to things others don’t notice. It makes me proud to think that I helped another person just like me fulfill his dreams in playing football.”
